The week began with a trip to Parma Antiques fair for our project in Rome and ended with a weekend in Milan. The sun was shining and I had a list as long as my arm of places ready to explore. Here are a few of my favorites.

GALLERIA VITORIA EMANUEL II

The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is Italy's oldest active shopping mall and a major landmark of Milan.. Grab a tasty panzerotto from Luni, sit on the steps of Duomo di Milano and take in the scenery.

DUOMO DI MILANO

if there’s one thing you absolutely have to include on a trip to Milan its Duomo di Milano, its absolutely breath-taking and totally worth the 250 steps to the top to see the best views over the city. My knees began to shake as I peered over the rooftops of Milan, but as soon as I clocked my eyes on to the torte Velasca, I was soon distracted. Standing out over the city skyline it takes a prominent stand as one of the first generation of Italian architecture

SANTA MARIA DELLE GRAZIE

Holds the mural of the last supper by Leonardo da Vinci, we didn't get a chance to go in as all tickets were sold out 3 months in advance, book early if you want to see it. If not, take in the beautiful red brick architecture in all its glory

WHERE TO STAY

We stayed in the area of Naviglio Grande, Ripa di Porta Ticinese and Alzaia Naviglio Grande. A very characteristic area of Milan, quaint restaurants line the canal serving classic Italian dishes. A great area for nightlife if what you are looking for is something more relaxed and local.

LE SCALA

Most of Italy's greatest operatic artists, and many of the finest singers from around the world, have appeared at La Scala. The theatre is regarded as one of the leading opera and ballet theatres in the world. It is a must when visiting Milan.

TOP TIP

They offer cheaper tickets at €6.50 which you don't need to book in advance. Arrive around 5:30pm to register your name, hang around the area until 6pm where they will begin to call out numbers, once your number is called... pick up your ticket and come back at 8:30pm when the show begins.

It was a short trip and I still feel like there are tons of things I still want to see .. Untill next time Milan!
